Minister Ryan Smith snubs communities

In a harsh blow to regional communities, state Environment Minister Ryan Smith has rejected a meeting to discuss the future survival of wildlife in forests affected by the fires and logging.

In a harsh blow to communities in 2009 fire affected regions, state Environment Minister Ryan Smith has rejected a meeting to discuss the wellbeing of wildlife in forests affected by the fires and logging. MyEnvironment Inc. and The Wilderness Society both requested meeting to gauge how the Minister was proposing to deal with the extinction crisis facing wildlife in Victoria's Central Highlands forests. The Minister's kurt rejection, after a lengthy prose from the pro-logging members of his party, is dissapointing to say the least. We will respond.

MyEnvironment Inc. did meet with local member David Hodgett and welcome a continuing dialogue with members of the Liberal party.
