Thanks to all of those people who have come and joined us so far and welcome to the new members of the group!

This coming week (Feb 18th - 22nd) Dave Blair and I will be out stagwatching on mon, tues, thurs and fri.  If you would like to come out on a particular day, please email or text message us BY lunchtime on the day, or anytime beforehand (please just text rather than call, as we may be out of range a lot during the day).

The following week (Feb 25th - March 1st) is our annual stagwatch camp, where most of our experienced field team from all over south eastern australia will be down helping us, including Prof David Lindenmayer.  We have a number of sites with large numbers of trees which we hope to get done during that week, so the more volunteers the better!  We will have around 6 vehicles with space for around 18 volunteers.  If you have a 4WD or AWD, we can take more people in convoy if you are happy to drive.  We have already had many people express an interest in helping us that week!  So we are going to start putting some names to some dates.  If there is a night you prefer to come out, please let us know so we can start organising. We have sites that are 2.5 hours away and need an early meeting time, and others that are 15 minutes away. This makes the planning a little crazy at times! So if you say you are attending, and cant for whatever reason, please let us know! Please be aware that the stagwatches can be called off (we will let you know) due to weather, fire, access, etc.

At this stage, the week will be as follows;

  • Sun meet in Healseville 6:30pm
  • Mon meet in Healesville 6pm
  • Tue meet in Yarra Junction at 6pm
  • Wed meet in Healesville 6pm
  • Thur meet in Healesville 6pm
  • Fri meet in Healesville 6pm

The 6pm meeting time is to give us enough time to meet, drive to our furthest sites, give a breifing on the night, allocate mats/repellant/toraches etc, allocate you a tree and do a bird count.... all before dark!

We WILL LEAVE BY 6:30pm SHARP from our meeting point.  if you are going to be even 5 minutes late, we will need to be notified!

Possum peak hour waits for no one!
